Hanukkah holiday in Israel 2019
If you are a fan of iconic festivals including cultures, traditions, costumes, events, activities and delicious food, then you better not miss the opportunity of marking the Hanukkah festival on your calendars. This festival normally occurs in December each year and is celebrated by a large audience. Hanukkah festival is also known as “the festival of lights”, due to the candle lights appearing at night in menorah or Hannukiah, which means one light on each night of this festival.
It is celebrated in 8 nights with lightening of candles and delicious snacks including sufganiyot (also known as donuts) and latkes. There are found almost everywhere during this festival as it’s a traditional snack for Israel. This event is known to be of hope and freedom and becomes a time of festivity across the country.
Special Events during Hanukkah The special events that are celebrated in Israel during Hanukkah include annual torch bearer races that begin from Modi’in city, located in the Judean Hills, to the western wall, which is the last remaining wall in Jerusalem city of the old temple. On the other hand are the “Menorahs or Hanukkiahs”, known as the symbols of Hanukkah. These are basically the miniature version of an original Menorah of the temple. These are used to lighten up with candles in them and spread light in the Hanukkah festival in Israel.

Date and Timings Hanukkah festival will begin from December 22 in the evening and will end up on the evening of December 30, 2019. From December 22, begins activities such as live music shows, a workshop for kids and the lightning of Menorah in Tel Aviv Independence Park.
