International Oud Festival in Jerusalem
If you are a fan of cultural instruments and their related music, then this event is for you like each year, It is held to celebrate an instrument known as the “king of instruments” in the middle east. It is in a pear shape, with strings attached, making a very unique and interesting sound. It is kind of like a guitar but different.
Every year in Israel, this festival is celebrated, combining some of the great artists and performers, original productions to develop an ancient music vibe all over the place, make us feel like we went to a different world and in the past, showing modern and ancient work and a connection between the Arabs and Persians music.
This event usually occurs in Jerusalem each year, combining great music including “Arab, Persian, Jewish and Indian subcontinent” where their music combines and makes us all one.
What Happens In This Festival? A lot happens at this festival but it’s all related to music by Oud instrument. The date and timings for this event are as follows;
International Oud Festival starting on 24th of November at Confederation house at 07:00 pm: Performance by Lea Avraham: On Bird’s Wings Songs and dances from Hogriah, Yemen, and Israeli songs On the 24th of November at Hamifal at 09:30 pm: Performance by Ittai Binnun on playing various instruments and launch of digital sounds. On 25th of November at Leo Model Hall, Gerard Behar Center at 07:00 pm: Vocalist Ilana Eliya will present her fifth album to guests. On 25th of November at Henry crown hall, Jerusalem Theater at 09:00 pm: Performance to be covered by Dr. Okan Murat Öztürk on both Turkish and Israeli music. On 26th of November at Henry crown hall, Jerusalem Theater at 09:00 pm: Performance by Rabbi Haim Louk and Marouane Hajji combining both Israeli and Morocco music On 27h of November at Sherover Hall, Jerusalem Theater at 09:00 pm: A special tribute session arranged to tribute the great vocal artists of Egypt On 28h of November at Henry crown hall, Jerusalem Theater at 08:00 pm: Performance by Ustad Shahid Parvez and Begum Parveen Sultana from India On 29h of November at Te’enim restaurant, Confederation house from 10:30 am to 03:00 pm: A solo performance of oud musical instrument by Samir Makhoul. On 30h of November at Foyer, Jerusalem Theater at 07:00 pm: A performance of east music and dance On 30h of November at Sherover Hall, Jerusalem Theater at 09:00 pm: An ending performance of the festival by Estudiantina Orchestra with guest, the Greek legend Alkistis Protopsalti from Greece.
